Our take

A scent built around hyrax and Laotian oud is not trying to be polite. OTO is for the wearer who wants an animalic presence that refuses to soften its edges. The first reason is the material choice. Hyrax brings a musky, earthy weight that sits far from clean, mass-market citrus. Lemon, bergamot, and yellow mandarin are present, but they do not brighten the mood into something safe. The second reason is the herbal density. Marjoram and vetiver push the profile into aromatic territory that feels dry and rooted, while patchouli adds a dark, soil-like depth. May rose and jasmine sit inside the mix, yet they do not turn it into a floral. Black currant offers a small lift, but the overall impression stays woody, herbal, and unapologetically heavy.

This is not a gentle introduction to oud. The animalic accord is loud in the first few minutes and may unsettle anyone expecting a smooth, wearable wood. It suits a collector who enjoys challenging, niche textures and wants a fragrance that smells nothing like a perfume counter. Someone who prefers clean musk, light citrus, or transparent greens should look elsewhere. The herbal bite and the musky density demand patience and a specific taste. OTO is a bold composition that wears its rawness plainly, and that rawness is exactly what limits its audience.
