Our take

Blue by La Perla opens with a sharp, green snap of violet leaf and citrus, like a lemon peel twisted over a chilled glass of mineral water. The bergamot lifts it, but there is a distinct coolness here, an almost metallic edge that stops this from being a simple sunny citrus. As it settles, the hyacinth and cyclamen unfurl into a watery floral haze, more abstract than literal bouquet. This is not a garden in full bloom. It is the scent of a pale blue silk scarf, damp from sea mist, snapping in a coastal breeze. The dry down brings a soft, powdery iris over cedar and a whisper of patchouli, earthy but restrained. Olivier Polge built a Chypre Floral that feels like a ghost of the 90s, clean yet sophisticated.

The overall character is quietly elegant but frustratingly shy. With a sillage barely reaching a 3 and longevity hovering just above three hours, this fragrance whispers when it should speak. It feels natural in its composition, if a touch synthetic in the ozonic accord, more niche in spirit than its mainstream price tag suggests. Who should wear it? Someone who wants a discreet, fresh scent for a spring morning coffee or a breezy summer lunch, not a clubbing statement. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting projection or lasting power, because this fades faster than a forgotten dream. Why tease us with such a beautiful structure if it refuses to stay? It is a perfect traveler’s companion, light and refined, but you will need to reapply often to keep the memory alive. 🧊🌸
