Character
A heavy door swings shut behind you in a stone chapel. Outside, snow piles against the windows and the air bites at every exposed surface. Inside, the room holds a deep warmth that comes from burning resin and aged wood. You stand near the altar where a small brazier releases a steady curl of incense. The smoke does not rush upward. It hangs in the still air and wraps around your sleeves.
Amber sits at the center of the space. It feels thick and golden, like melted wax that has cooled but never hardened. Smoky tendrils drift through that glow and give the air a dark edge. Balsamic resin adds a smooth, almost syrupy weight that sticks to the back of your throat. Warm spicy particles prick at the nose without ever becoming sharp. Wooden beams overhead seem to exhale the same dry heat that rests on your skin.
The incense itself is dry and reverent. It does not smell like a modern boutique or a polished counter. It smells like a place that has seen centuries of winter storms and kept its heat through sheer density. Every breath feels layered and deliberate. The materials do not compete. They lean into one another until the boundary between them disappears.
You press your hand to the warm stone and breathe in once more. The amber deepens. The smoke thickens. Wood and spice settle into the quiet. Incense remains.
