Our take

Rose Kashmirie opens with a blast of saffron and coriander that makes the rose feel almost peppery, like a hot whisper against cold skin. The bergamot cuts through briefly, bright and fleeting, before the heart settles into a dense, honeyed myrrh that wraps the peony in a sticky, balsamic embrace. By the drydown, the base is a bed of sandalwood and cypriol oil, dusty and grassy, with vanilla and benzoin softening the edges into a powdery, almost metallic warmth. The overall character is that of an antique shawl, rumpled and richly stained, draped over a carved wooden chest in a room where incense has lingered for decades.

This is a lush, slightly synthetic-feeling rose that leans decidedly niche in its refusal to be pretty. It is heavy, sweet in a roasted jammy way, and sits close to the skin with a sillage that hovers around a modest three out of five. Longevity is its weak spot, fading to a ghost of itself after a few hours, which is a shame given the depth of the base. Who should wear it? The woman who wants a rose that smells like it has lived through a monsoon, not one just plucked from a garden. Who should skip? Anyone expecting a fresh, dewy floral or a projection beast for a night out. Wear it in the deep autumn or a dry winter evening, indoors, where its soft warmth can bloom without competing with wind or rain. Is it worth the hunt? Yes, if you have the patience to reapply.
