Our take

The heavy doors of a private club close behind you. Inside, the air is thick with the scent of polished exotic woods and the lingering residue of a fire that burned down hours ago. You smell oud and ash mingling with the sticky sweetness of exotic fruits left on a table near the hearth. Smoke curls through the room, carrying a warm ember glow that settles into the fabric of the velvet chairs.

This is a scent built from darkness and heat. The woody accord provides a sturdy foundation, but it is the smoky element that defines the space. Sweetness from the fruit tries to lighten the mood, yet the ash and ember notes pull everything back toward the fireplace. It feels heavy and atmospheric, surrounding the room with a dense, resinous haze.

Vincent Micotti composed a fragrance that captures a specific kind of evening luxury. The oud here is deep and resonant, pairing perfectly with the charred nature of the ash. You do not sense a transition between notes because the entire composition breathes as one unified cloud. It is a dense, unapologetic blend that demands a setting of shadows and cold air outside the glass.

The fruit offers a brief moment of brightness before the smoke and wood take over completely. It is a scent of heat against the cold, of sitting in a room that smells of ancient timber and glowing coals. The air remains filled with the scent of oud.
