Our take

Deadly Nightcap is a fragrance for slow weekend mornings when the day stretches ahead with no agenda. The opening makes that case immediately, pouring tart Campari and bright orange over crushed cardamom. The bitterness of the aperitif is real and sharp, stopping the citrus from becoming cheerful, while the spice gives the air a clean, lifted edge. As it moves into the heart, the scent shifts toward a glass of gin threaded with juniper berry and cool cypress. The juniper brings a resinous green pinch that mirrors the cardamom, and the cypress adds a dry, almost resinous wood that keeps the gin from leaning into a cocktail theme. It smells like a garden where the herbs are still warm from the sun but the air has a crisp bite.

The base settles into a forest floor built from vetiver, cedar, and fir. The vetiver carries a damp, earthy root tone that anchors the brighter top, while the cedar offers a smooth, dry plank beneath it. Fir needles add a fresh, slightly sappy green that recalls the cypress above. Composed by Alexis Grugeon, the blend stays aromatic and woody without ever turning heavy or dark. It suits someone who wants a scent that feels like walking outside with a drink in hand, surrounded by sunlit trees and open air. It is a glass of Campari and gin set on a cedar table in a bright yard.
