Kiss & Sea Exit 10

A covered market at night smells of roasting nuts and cold air slipping through the doors. Someone walks past with a small basket of blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry, the fruit still cool from the stall. A pinch of saffron warms the air around them, and a bite of litchi adds a juicy, tropical lift to the berries. The scent does not sit on top of the crowd. It moves with the person, bright and a little messy, like fruit carried in a coat pocket.

Violet and Turkish rose rise as the walk continues past the spice sellers. Red currant and red berries pull the flowers toward the fruit, while frankincense drifts in with a dry, resinous smoke. The combination feels dressed up but not formal. The rose is deep and slightly powdery, the violet soft and shadowed by the resin. It smells like a street where flowers are sold next to incense.

The path turns toward the woodworkers. Oud and cypriol bring a dark, earthy weight, joined by amber and patchouli. Leather appears like a worn jacket, with cedar and sandalwood smoothing the edges into something calm. The fruit remains, now wrapped in smoke and wood. It is sweet but grounded, the kind of sweetness that belongs near a fire and under a heavy coat.

The group stops by a stall where planks of cedar lean against a wall of sandalwood. Oud curls through the air while amber glows against the cold. Leather and patchouli sit on the sleeves of everyone nearby, and a last trace of violet catches on the scarf.
