Oud
Fragrance notes
Character
Samam Oud opens with a sharp, metallic saffron that cuts straight through the juicy tartness of passionfruit. The oud arrives immediately, resinous and dense, refusing to wait its turn in the background. This is not a gentle introduction. The fruit brightens the heavy wood for a moment, but the overall impression is dark and unyielding from the first spray.
Patchouli joins the heart, adding an earthy, damp soil quality that grounds the tropical opening. The composition feels thick, almost syrupy, as the saffron merges with the agarwood. It creates a dense cloud of scent that occupies a large amount of space around the wearer, announcing its presence with a heavy, spicy weight that demands attention in any room.
As the evening progresses, the base reveals a smooth leather accord wrapped in warm amber. Vanilla adds a soft sweetness, but it never dominates the rugged, masculine leather and the persistent oud. The scent lingers on fabric and skin with incredible persistence, staying power that carries through a long night without fading into the background.
The blend feels suited to a dimly lit, upscale lounge where the air is cool and the atmosphere is serious. It is a fragrance of presence and luxury, wrapping the wearer in a rich, exotic mantle. The final impression is a deep, resonant mix of tobacco and amber.
