Our take

Libertine opens with a tropical fruit punch that feels more synthetic than natural, like a plastic pineapple garnish from a 90s cocktail party. Grapefruit and passionfruit add a sour fizz that doesn’t quite convince, but the heart is where this fragrance earns its stripes. Honeysuckle and lily-of-the-valley bring a green, almost soapy sweetness, softened by rose and bergamot. Then the base drops in like a slow curtain, revealing oakmoss, patchouli, labdanum, and amber. That is the real Libertine: a dark, earthy chypre that smells like a dusty velvet chaise lounge in a forgotten conservatory, all damp moss and resin.

It is a fragrance of two halves, and the split shows. Longevity and sillage are modest, scoring around 3.
