Our take

Intense Pour Homme opens with a sharp, barber-shop jolt of lavender and citruses, but the Amalfi lemon is quickly gummed up by a syrupy saffron and African orange flower that feels less Mediterranean and more like a club lobby in Dubai. The heart is where this fragrance tries to flex: that saffron-leather combo pushes toward warmth, but the orange flower adds a honeyed, almost jammy sweetness that never quite gels with the aromatic top. Then comes the base. Tonka, styrax, and musk roll in with a soft, resinous vanilla-amber blanket, and the leather is there, but it’s polished smooth, not rugged. The Virginia cedar provides a dry skeleton, yet the whole thing feels like a leather jacket stored in a drawer full of potpourri. It’s a synthetic-stew version of an oriental woody, mainstream in ambition and execution, with a sweetness that borders on cloying.

The overall character is a velvet rope at a hotel bar: polished, a little loud, but the fabric is fading. Longevity barely hits three hours, and sillage is a timid whisper after twenty minutes, which makes “Intense” in the name feel like a practical joke. This is for a man in his late twenties who wants to smell “rich” on a budget, reaching for it on a winter night out, but only if he’s okay with reapplying. Skip it if you crave leather with bite or natural-smelling spice. It’s a decent date-night scent for the first hour, then it’s just a memory. The rating of 3.96 feels generous.
