Character
A courtyard in the old quarter glows under a single lantern. Smoke from burning incense curls upward while saffron dust hangs in the chilled air. Geranium adds a green, slightly peppery edge to the opening, keeping the spices from feeling flat. Someone walks past carrying a small bowl of fresh raspberries, and the fruit lands softly against the rose that begins to breathe from the fabric of a heavy coat. The flowers here are not delicate. They feel rooted in the stone walls around you, dark and saturated, touched by the heat of the spice but never overwhelmed by it.
The deeper the night goes, the more the wood reveals itself. Oud rises from the ground like a shadow, resinous and dry, while amberwood wraps the entire scene in a golden, slightly sweet warmth. The smoke does not leave. It lingers in the background, tying the fruit and the flowers to the heavy timber beneath them. It is a place that feels ancient and private, where the air is thick with aromatic resin and the faint, sugary trace of raspberry clings to the rose. The cold outside makes the amber feel necessary, a glowing core in the middle of the dark. The final impression is a blend of oud and smoke.
