Our take

Marshmallow by Calgon opens with a puff of literal confection: vanilla and brown sugar folded into that familiar synthetic marshmallow fluff, sweet and innocent as a Sunday school treat. The lily drifts in like a plastic flower on a birthday cake, powdery and white, while a whisper of sandalwood tries to ground things, though it never quite succeeds. It smells like a child’s fantasy of a perfume shop, a bottle of pink sparkles you’d shake over your wrist for exactly fifteen minutes of joy.

And those fifteen minutes are the whole story. Longevity hovers just over two hours, and sillage barely reaches a handshake. That is the honest weakness: this fragrance evaporates like a sugar cube in hot tea. But for what it is, the character is charming. Imagine a single marshmallow left on a windowsill in winter, soft and cold and sweet, melting only when you breathe on it. It feels aggressively mainstream and synthetic, but not in a harsh way. It’s more like candy lip gloss from a drugstore.

Who should wear it? A teenager who wants to smell like dessert without offending anyone, or an adult chasing a brief nostalgia hit. Skip it if you need a perfume to last through a workday or project any kind of complexity. Wear it in winter after a hot bath, or on a spring afternoon when you want something light and silly. It works surprisingly well in cold weather, clinging to scarves for a short, cozy minute. It is a quick sugar high, and for that, it is almost perfect.
