Character
A wood-fired oven hums in the corner of a stone kitchen. The door is open just enough to let a thin ribbon of smoke drift into the room. Someone has set a bowl of dark plums on the table next to a jar of ground cinnamon. The air feels heavy with spice and fruit, and the smoke does not overpower the food. It simply sits among the ingredients, wrapping the cinnamon in a dry, gray veil that keeps the spice from feeling sharp.
Cypress branches lean against the wall near the window. Their clean, resinous scent mixes with the deep, hay-like warmth of immortelle. The plum is present but quiet, offering a soft roundness that keeps the green, bitter edges of the cypress from taking over. It is a room where the fruit and the forest meet without either one winning, the air thick with aromatic heat and a slow, steady pulse of sweet spice.
Agarwood rests on a low shelf beside a dish of amber resin and pale benzoin. Fir needles are scattered near a small jar of vanilla. The vanilla is rich and dark, but the fir and the oud pull it toward the floor, anchoring the sweetness so it never rises too high. Benzoin adds a polished, resinous gloss that makes the entire space feel sealed and warm, the wood and the resin blending into a single, heavy atmosphere.
The oven crackles again and a fresh wave of smoke joins the cinnamon, drifting past the plums and the cypress, moving toward the amber and the oud on the shelf, the vanilla catching the heat as the fir needles release one last breath of resin into the air
