Someone has just shaken out a wool blanket, releasing a cloud of fine dust and white musk that hangs in the dim light.
On the mantle sits a bowl of dried citruses, their rinds cracked open to release a sharp, bright oil that cuts through the heavy air. The aroma is not a progression but a single, dense atmosphere. Redwood and vetiver ground the space, lending an earthy, balsamic weight to the floorboards. It is a smell of shelter, of rough timber and warm spicy resin clinging to a sweater.
Powdery amber notes soften the edges of the room, blurring the sharp lines of the furniture. The incense is not burning in a corner; it is part of the very air you breathe, mixing with the sandalwood that seems to rise from the wooden beams overhead.
