Our take

Tabac Man opens with a brisk slap of lavender and mint, the citrus sharpening the edge rather than softening it. That aromatic freshness is the fragrance’s best trick, but it fades fast. Within minutes, the heart rushes in with coriander’s peppery bite and a green, rooty vetiver that feels more barbershop tonic than dirty earth. Cardamom adds a fuzzy warmth, but the geranium keeps things clipped and proper. The base is where the trouble starts: sandalwood and patchouli go powdery, nutmeg adds a dusty sweetness, and vanilla turns the whole thing into a soft, forgettable hum. It dries down to a clean-shaven, slightly sweet skin scent that has no interest in sticking around, longevity hovering near two out of five and sillage barely projecting beyond an arm’s reach. This is the scent of a man who just shaved and then spent an hour in a dry-cleaned cotton shirt, a perfectly polite presence that evaporates before anyone can ask what it is. It works best as a casual spring or fall daytime fragrance, especially for the office or a coffee date, but don’t expect compliments or conversation starters. Those who crave depth, spice that bites back, or any sense of adventure should skip it. Tabac Man is a lavender-tinted handkerchief, pleasant to hold, but it will never announce your arrival.
