Our take

King Solomon opens with a bright, almost abrasive snap of cinnamon and cardamom, the spices crackling like dry kindling before camphor sweeps in to cool things down. That camphor note is the real pivot here: it gives the opening a medicinal, almost retro barbershop character, but the vetiver and Virginia cedar ground it fast, turning the fragrance into a woody, earthy affair. As it dries, vanilla and oakmoss soften the edges, while musk powders everything into a warm, slightly dusty finish. The overall impression is of an old wooden spice chest left open in a sunlit study, its contents still fragrant but mellowed by time.

This is a straightforward, no-surprises oriental spicy that leans more toward the niche side of mainstream than true artistry. The cinnamon and camphor duel for attention, making it a little synthetic-tinged up top, but the drydown settles into a cozy, mossy skin scent. Performance is modest: longevity around four or five hours, sillage close to the body after the first hour, which suits its nature more than it disappoints. It works best in cool weather, especially fall evenings, and though the voting suggests daytime wear, the camphor and dark oakmoss feel more natural after sunset.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants a recognizable spiced woody fragrance without projection problems, who likes a hint of retro cleanliness from the camphor. Skip it if you dislike anything even faintly medicinal or if you expect the richness that the word King Solomon implies. This is a pleasant, unassuming fragrance, not a legendary one.
