Idyllic does not rush to impress. The opening is busy with spearmint and blood orange, and the ginger and black pepper add heat, but the first minutes feel crowded and a little thin. It takes patience before the pieces settle into something that feels like a single scent rather than a stack of ideas.
Once the heart appears, pineapple and davana bring a soft fruitiness that the star anise steers toward the herbal side. The spearmint lingers long enough to keep the fruit from turning heavy. Tonka bean and labdanum give the base a warm, amber weight, while Virginia cedar and cashmeran hold the shape so the scent stays near the skin without disappearing through a long afternoon outdoors.
Composed by Bryson Ammons, this is a green, fresh spicy companion for a walk between rows of market stalls when the air is warm but not stifling. It suits someone who likes citrus and fruit but wants the dry, woody finish to keep things grounded. The lasting impression is anis.
