Our take

Pure opens with a citrusy slap of tangerine that immediately softens into something almost prim, the marigold and orchid lending a powdery, slightly waxy sheen. This is 1997 in a bottle, a time when clean meant scrubbed with soap and then doused in a floral fruit punch. The heart is a crowded garden party where pineapple attempts to flirt with gardenia, but gets drowned out by a chorus of lilies and peonies, all of them polite and a little indistinct. The dry down reveals woody notes and amber, but the cinnamon adds a faint, baffling warmth, like someone switched the diffuser midway through a yoga class. The overall character is that of a freshly pressed blouse left to dry on a spring clothesline, crisp and faintly sweet, but already beginning to fade before you can button it up.

This is undeniably mainstream, a workhorse floral green that coasts on its sheer pleasantness, never daring to be memorable. The longevity is a modest two to three hours, and the sillage stays so close to the skin it barely registers, which feels less like intimacy and more like surrender. It suits the person who wants to smell nice without asking for attention, someone reaching for a safe and cheerful spritz between meetings or brunch. Skip it if you crave presence or complexity, or if you find a synthetic floral accord irritating. Perfect for a breezy spring morning, but don’t expect it to last past lunch.
