Our take

Raspberry and litchi open Angel Nova sweet and juicy, closer to a fruit cocktail than to a heavier gourmand, and damask rose arrives quickly to anchor that fruit in something more classical. The rose is full and a little jammy itself, so the transition from fruit to flower barely registers as a change at all. Sonia Constant, Louise Turner and Quentin Bisch share the credit, and the fruit-to-rose opening leaves little room for anything else to register early on.

Akigalawood and benzoin move in for the base and pull the fragrance toward oud and amber territory, woody and warm spicy more than sweet, a sharper turn than the fruity rose heart prepares you for. Akigalawood especially pulls the whole composition toward oud territory by the finish, rather than letting the fruit carry all the way through.

It shows real staying power through the whole arc from fruit to wood, and the sillage announces itself early, more confident than shy. Spring and summer are its strongest seasons, and daytime wear suits the fruity, rosy opening well, even as the base pulls things in a darker, woodier direction by the finish. The fruity-to-oud arc works best for someone who already likes both halves on their own, since the two never quite blend into a single smooth idea.
