Night opens with a sharp, slightly medicinal edge from the cypriol that can feel abrasive on first spray. The raspberry tries to soften this introduction, but it leans tart rather than jammy, offering a thin sweetness that struggles to balance the rooty top notes. Ylang-ylang adds a creamy, yellow floral layer, yet it often gets overshadowed by the heavier elements moving in quickly behind it. This transition feels somewhat rushed, as the heart reveals a cashmere wood that is more synthetic than cozy, sitting atop a rose that reads more watery than velvety. The combination creates a texture that lacks natural depth, making the composition feel a bit disjointed as the middle section develops.
The base brings in a dense oud and warm amber, anchored by a moist oakmoss that pushes the earthy accord forward. While the amber provides a golden glow, the oud here is aggressive and lacks the smooth refinement found in higher-quality extractions, sometimes veering into a rubbery territory. The musk and woody facets dominate the dry down, leaving a heavy trail that can feel overwhelming in enclosed spaces. Because the raspberry and rose fade into the background early, the scent loses its initial promise of floral fruitiness too soon. The result is a fragrance that leans heavily on its darker, resinous side, making the opening sharpness a persistent characteristic rather than a fleeting phase.
