Vanilla absolute and saffron form a thick, golden heart. Red berries add a tart edge that keeps the sweetness from becoming flat. The blend feels rich and slightly powdery on the skin.
Oud and amber dominate the drydown. The oud here is smooth and polished rather than animalic or sharp. Musk wraps the heavier notes in a soft, slightly dusty blanket. The amber lingers with a steady, resinous glow that defines the later hours.
Note of Galb is composed by Nejla Barbir for Galbee. The fruit and spice are pleasant, but the vanilla absolute leans synthetic against the natural oud. It suits cooler evenings and festive occasions. Those who prefer their amber compositions dry and transparent will find this mix too heavy and cloying.
