Our take

Proraso Green After Shave opens like a slap of cold mountain air mixed with a mentholated cough drop. The eucalyptus and mint hit hard and immediate, a camphorous jolt that clears the sinuses and tightens the skin. There is no sweetness here, no softness. This is the scent of a barbershop after a hot towel, of crushed herbs and steam. It develops almost nowhere, which is the point and the problem. Within twenty minutes the crisp green bite begins to fade, and by the hour what remains is a faint woody ghost, a clean laundry memory you are not sure you actually smell. The longevity rating of 1.54 and sillage of 1.77 are not exaggerations. This is a splash and sprint, not a splash and linger. It is a brisk ritual, not a statement.

The overall character is that of an Italian barber’s blade being stropped against worn leather, all efficient and clinical, then followed by a plume of eucalyptus vapor that hangs in the room for a moment and is gone. It is convincingly natural, almost pharmaceutical, with no synthetic sharpness. It suits the man who shaves every morning, splashes on something brisk, and walks out the door without thinking about fragrance again. Skip it if you want to be smelled from across a room or if you expect a scent to last through a lunch meeting. But for a ten-minute window of absolute freshness after a razor, it is nearly perfect. Wear it in the heat of summer, on a morning when the sun is already punishing, and treat it as a cold drink you finish in two gulps.
