Our take

Orange and ginger open with a bright, zesty snap that feels awake and alert. The citrus is vivid, not candied, and the ginger adds a clean heat that keeps the start from leaning soft. Champaca enters with a golden, slightly indolic floral weight, while coffee deepens the heart with a roasted bitterness that grounds the petals. White tobacco and tonka bean carry the blend forward for a good while, letting the scent stay present through a busy morning without ever pushing outward to fill a space. Choya loban adds a resinous, faintly smoky edge that keeps the sweetness from going flat. The materials feel dense and natural, with a slightly animalic hum that gives the whole composition a lived-in warmth.

This is a scent for sunlit rooms and open windows, the kind of daylight that makes wood and resin glow. It suits someone who likes florals with a bitter, aromatic backbone and does not mind a trace of something untamed in the base. The tonka and coffee together create a cozy, amber-leaning foundation that still feels airy because the orange keeps lifting it. Mandy Aftel composed a blend that moves slowly across the skin, changing in small ways as the tobacco dries down and the champaca settles closer to the surface, leaving a gentle, balsamic trail that lingers near the wrist
