Our take

Black Religion builds this scent around three vanilla varieties that each pull in a different direction. Bourbon brings a warm, boozy roundness, Madagascar adds a deep and resinous weight, and Tahitian leans creamy and almost tropical. Dried fruits open the composition with a hushed, chewy sweetness that feels more like a pantry than a market stall. White chocolate and white flowers sit in the middle, softening the edges so the gourmand heart never turns sharp. Caramel threads through the base to glue the vanillas together, and the powdery accord keeps the blend from feeling sticky. It is a thick, enveloping fragrance that suits a quiet street at night when the air is cool and the sky is dark. The mood is indulgent and a little private, like wearing a favorite sweater to a small gathering where no one expects you to be polished.

The blend leans heavily on its dessert profile, and that is exactly where it stumbles. White chocolate and caramel are pushed so far forward that the dried fruits lose their shape, reading more like sugar than fruit. The white flowers try to lift the weight, but they are outnumbered by the vanilla trio and the caramel. It smells expensive in a very narrow way, and the narrowness is the limitation. If you want a complex gourmand that shifts and reveals new facets, this one stays locked in its opening statement. It is a single idea executed with care, but the idea does not change once it settles on the skin.
