Wonderwood treats wood as the entire subject, not a supporting note. Virginia cedar, sandalwood, cypress and guaiac wood all show up early, stacked one on top of the other, so the composition reads like raw timber more than a single smooth accord. There is very little attempt to soften that idea for a wider audience.
Madagascar pepper, nutmeg and caraway sit inside that wood, spicy and a little sharp, while bergamot barely registers before the woods take over completely. Incense and agarwood add a faint resinous quality, cashmeran and patchouli filling out the base with a soft, powdery warmth that rounds off the driest edges of the cedar.
Wear time sits at a middling pace, thinning out gradually rather than dropping off all at once, and the wood keeps its shape in a small, warm bubble around the wearer. Fall is when it feels most complete, the cedar and cypress suited to cold, dry air, though it holds up reasonably in a mild winter too.
