Two lemons, blood orange and juniper crowd the opening of K by Dolce & Gabbana Eau de Parfum, sharp and citrus-forward before pimento and cardamom add a little heat. Fig nectar arrives in the heart with lavender, geranium and clary sage, sweet without turning cloying, and it's this fig note more than the citrus that gives the fragrance its identity.
Cedar, patchouli, vetiver and cypriol settle underneath, earthy and dry, giving the drydown a woody backbone the top notes don't hint at. Its hold is average, warm and pleasant while it lasts, gone before it can turn tiresome, and projection is gentle, felt by whoever sits at your elbow, not further.
Warm-weather months carry it best, spring through the start of fall, worn to work or out for a casual dinner without asking too much of the wearer. Skin that runs warm will pull more sweetness from the fig, though the drydown turns noticeably earthier than the citrus-forward opening, less suited to anyone chasing something purely clean throughout. The drydown settles into a fig tree dropping fruit onto warm gravel in a Sicilian courtyard.
