Character
Grapefruit and bergamot open bright and a little bitter, with Sicilian mandarin softening the sourness and juniper adding a resinous, gin-like snap underneath. It smells clean in the way a cold shower is clean, sharp and a little bitter, citrus without much sugar in it, and no obvious sweetness anywhere in the opening. Pepper and rosemary take over in the middle, herbal and a little sharp, with Brazilian rosewood adding a soft, woody roundness underneath the herbs, rounding off the sharpest edges without softening the fragrance's overall dryness.
Musk, incense and oakmoss take over from here, quieter and mossier than the bright opening suggests, holding the whole drydown together. The oakmoss brings a damp, forest-floor quality, incense adds a faint resinous lift, and musk smooths the two into something that stays close to the skin, private rather than social. It runs an average clip, nothing to plan a day around.
Spring and summer daytime wear is where it belongs, fitting an office day or an errand run better than an evening event, since there is nothing dark or heavy in the composition built for night. Someone who wants understated, easy citrus will find plenty to like. Depth and complexity are not what this bottle is chasing, and it does not pretend otherwise.
