Our take

Marshmallow is an odd note to find anchoring a Dolce&Gabbana fragrance, and yet it is exactly what makes Pour Femme's base recognizable, soft and faintly sugary without turning into anything resembling actual candy. Raspberry, neroli and mandarin orange open things brightly, citrus and berry together, before orange blossom and jasmine take over the heart with a cleaner, more traditional white floral character.

That heart is really the hinge of the fragrance, floral enough to balance the sweetness building underneath it, and warm enough that it never turns austere.

Vanilla, sandalwood and heliotrope thicken the base alongside the marshmallow, powdery and warm without much woody bite despite sandalwood's presence. It is a middle-of-the-road performer for longevity, and the sillage stays a soft, near presence, easy to live with in an office or classroom setting.

Fall and winter bring out its warmth best, though it holds up fine in spring and summer too, since nothing about the base gets noticeably heavier when it's warm out. The marshmallow base is the real reason to try it, comfortable and unchallenging in a way that never gets boring.
