Coffee is the note that defines this fragrance, showing up early in the heart alongside pear, iris, and orange blossom, giving what would otherwise be a sweet floral a bitter, roasted edge. Violet and orange open things gently, orange especially bright against bergamot, before that coffee note takes hold and turns the composition darker. That contrast between roasted coffee and delicate orange blossom is the most interesting thing happening in the whole composition.
Caramel and vanilla warm the base considerably, and patchouli adds a dry, grounding note underneath all that caramel and vanilla, a bit of bark under the sugar. Persistence sits in the moderate range, and the whole thing forms a soft, warm cloud right around the wearer, coffee and caramel blending into a bittersweet, almost boozy warmth.
Cold evenings are where it belongs, worn after dark when the coffee and caramel combination feels most natural. Iris and violet add a powdery, slightly old-world thread underneath all that coffee and sugar, the coolest part of a fragrance built mostly on warmth, and pear in the heart barely registers once the coffee takes hold.
