Néroli Botanica
Fragrance notes
Character
A spiced white floral that arrives like a shaft of sunlight through a greenhouse window, Néroli Botanica opens with a snap of pink pepper and ginger, turmeric lending an almost dusty warmth before the neroli and orange blossom burst into focus. This is Anne Flipo at her most literal, painting a citrus grove with fresh jasmine threading through the branches. The heart is lush but not cloying, the florals shimmering above a clean vetiver and sandalwood base that grounds everything in soft, woody resin.
Its character is a linen shirt drying on a stone wall in Seville, light and breezy but paper thin. That sillage rating of 2.56 tells the truth: you smell it on yourself, but no one else will unless they hug you. Longevity barely carries past three hours, a frustrating whisper when the composition itself is so well balanced. It feels natural and botanical indeed, nothing synthetic or harsh, but it behaves like a high end eau de cologne trapped in an eau de toilette’s lifespan.
Who should wear it? Anyone who treasures fleeting beauty, who wants to smell fresh and sophisticated without announcing themselves from across the room. It suits a warm spring morning, brunch on a terrace, a day at the botanical gardens. Skip it if you demand projection or all day presence, because this fragrance evaporates like morning dew. For a scent so beautifully constructed, the performance is a quiet letdown, but for those brief hours, it is utterly lovely.
