Beyond Paradise opens with a wall of citrus, grapefruit, bergamot, and lemon layered over hyacinth and orange blossom, bright and a little sharp before jasmine, gardenia, honeysuckle, and orchid crowd into the heart almost at once. It is a maximalist white floral built from a long note list, closer to a full garden in bloom than a single stem, and the density here is clearly the intended effect, not an accident of too many ideas competing for space.
By the base, hibiscus, plum wood, and ambrette bring the composition down into something warmer and slightly woody, with amber rounding out the sweetness underneath. It holds firm through a long stretch once it settles, and what carries off the skin gathers into a close, contained pocket around the wearer, picked up at conversation range rather than farther out. Calice Becker leaned this toward bright, warm-weather daylight, strongest from spring through the height of summer, better suited to a sunny errand than a quiet evening in, and the sheer density of florals means it may read as too much for anyone who prefers a single-note simplicity over a full bouquet.
