Our take

Sì Fiori suits someone who wants a rose that leans dry, not sweet. Black currant and green mandarin open tart and a little dark, setting the stage for a rose that never turns purely pretty once neroli, patchouli and oakmoss step in behind it. There is little of the usual soft, romantic quality that rose fragrances often lean on.

The patchouli and oakmoss pairing is doing the real work here, pulling the neroli and rose down into something earthier and more serious than a typical white floral. Vanilla and white musk close it out softly, powdery rather than sugary, without losing the dry, earthy thread running underneath the whole composition.

Staying power holds at a fair, middling pace, and it stays modest and intimate on the skin, the kind whoever is standing near you will pick up on. Spring is its strongest season, though a cool fall day works nearly as well, the earthy patchouli holding up better than the fresher top notes. It wears more like a fine woody chypre than a straightforward floral, patchouli and oakmoss doing most of the talking by the time it settles. Anyone who wants a grown-up, patchouli-tinted rose should look here first, but someone chasing a bright, girlish floral will want a different bottle.
