Sì Intense opens with a sharp, almost tart burst of black currant and cassis, a fizz of citrus and freesia that feels like biting into a frozen berry. The heart quickly turns lush and opulent: May rose and osmanthus weave together with neroli’s bitter honey and artemisia’s herbal edge, a green undercurrent that keeps the sweetness from tipping into jammy chaos. Then the base settles, and this is where the fragrance earns its name. Vanilla and patchouli meet ambroxan and woody notes, creating a dark, velvety hug that sticks to your skin like a second layer of cashmere. The overall character is a library armchair with a bowl of blackcurrant cordial left too close to a dying fire, warm and sticky and a little smoky.
It feels heavy but not cloying, leaning more synthetic than natural in its shimmering ambroxan backbone. The longevity and sillage are respectable but not monstrous, a 3.65 and 3.38 that say “I’ll last through dinner” rather than “I’ll haunt your coat for a week.” Its real weakness is that the fruity opening fades faster than you’d expect from an Intense flanker, leaving the patchouli and vanilla to carry the second half. Who does this suit? Someone who wants a grown-up fruity chypre that whispers rather than shouts, best worn on a winter evening with a wool coat and a glass of amaro. Skip it if you hate patchouli’s earthy thumbprint or prefer your florals gossamer light. Where does it belong? At a candlelit dinner in late fall, when the air outside is cold enough to make that warm, woody drydown feel like a secret.
