Under My Skin
Fragrance notes
Character
Under My Skin is not a fragrance that asks politely for your attention. It comes in close, a hand on your wrist, breath warm with pepper and lavender that quickly buckles under a dusting of orris root and a crushed carnation petal. The opening is bright but brittle, that grapefruit spark snuffed out almost immediately by a leather note that smells less like a new jacket and more like the underside of a saddle after a long ride. The heart is where Francesca Bianchi’s signature iris-powder emerges, but it’s a powder laced with something feral. Castoreum and costus roll in like a dirty secret, musky and animalic, while Peru balsam and tonka bean try to smooth things over. They fail wonderfully. The drydown is a warm, ambered leather swaddled in powdery vanilla and oakmoss, but the animal remains — it’s the sweat on a cashmere scarf, not the perfume. Sillage sits close to the skin, a whisper that demands you lean in, yet longevity is relentless: eight hours, easy, maybe ten. This is not a daytime spritz for errands. It belongs to autumn evenings, to the walk home after the last glass of wine, to the kind of intimacy that leaves a mark. Who should skip it? Anyone who thinks “clean” is a compliment. Everyone else, prepare to be inhabited. 🖤
