Our take

Crown opens with a sharp, almost abrasive mandarin orange that feels slightly synthetic and out of place against the heavy materials waiting beneath it. The citrus is bright but thin, and it clashes with the dense heart rather than bridging the gap. Patchouli and leather arrive quickly, thick and dark, followed by a warm amber that tries to soften the edges. A rose note sits quietly in the background, adding a faint floral dustiness that never fully blooms. The combination feels crowded at first, as if the fragrance is trying to be too many things at once.

The atmosphere settles into a dense, earthy warmth. Cypriol and moss ground the composition with a damp, forest-floor quality, while the smoke accord wraps around the skin like a wool coat that has spent an evening near a bonfire. The musk is deep and animalic rather than clean, giving the blend a slightly untamed character. It is a scent that feels heavy on the skin, leaning into its woody and spicy accords without offering much lightness or air. The materials feel robust, though the opening citrus remains a distracting memory.

You are standing in a dimly lit study where the fireplace has just been extinguished, the air still thick with grey ash and the scent of old leather armchairs, while a cracked mandarin sits forgotten on a wooden table near the window.
