Our take

This opens with a sharp, almost medicinal blast of cypress and pine, the kind of cold green that makes you think of a forest floor in late November. The myrtle adds a herbal, slightly resinous edge, but wait only a few minutes and the white peach sneaks in, softening everything into a powdery, almost cosmetic floral musk. The jasmine and white flowers don’t bloom so much as they dust the wood, creating a smooth, creamy sandalwood and red cedar base that feels more like scented powder than raw timber. The overall impression is of a well-worn cashmere sweater that spent the night in a drawer lined with cedar and dried flower petals. It’s undeniably pleasant, leaning synthetic in a clean, mainstream way, but lacks the depth or bite to be truly memorable.

The performance is the real letdown here. With longevity clocking just over three hours and sillage that barely reaches arm’s length, Santalum evaporates like a morning frost. That’s a shame, because the balance of woody, powdery, and fresh spicy notes is genuinely well composed for a budget release. It suits someone who wants a soft, inoffensive scent for daytime in cooler weather, especially fall. Skip it if you crave projection or any sort of narrative arc. This is a whisper, not a story, and its shyness might frustrate those who prefer their fragrances to announce themselves. Wear it to the office or a quiet coffee date, but don’t expect to leave a trail.
