SUI GENERIS
Fragrance notes
Character
SUI GENERIS is not an easy wear for everyone. The bubble gum opening leans synthetic and loud, rubbing against a metallic edge that can feel abrasive before the scent settles. People who want a smooth, polished floral will find the first minutes jarring and a little crude.
That sharp start is exactly why this works as a statement piece for evenings when you want to be noticed. The rose heart is dark and heavy, pulled down by leather and rubber until the sweetness turns industrial. Filigree & Shadow composed this with James Elliott at the helm, and the result feels more like machinery than a garden.
Walk through a cold city street at night wearing a black leather jacket, and the scent clicks into place. The smoke and animalic weight match the air, while the fruity chew of the gum adds a strange, neon glow against the dark buildings. It fits that mood better than a formal dinner or a bright afternoon patio.
It smells like a vintage motorcycle parked under a flickering streetlamp, its tire still warm against the damp pavement.
