Our take

Age of Innocence opens with a burst of sticky pink bubblegum and cotton candy, a carnival of artificial sweetness that feels almost confrontational. Then the gasoline hits, and the whole thing rattles. The strawberry doesn’t fade so much as curdle against rubber and metallic rose, turning that childhood treat into something sinister. You get the rose only in fragments, like petals trapped under a tire. The drydown is where the real tension lives: a smoky, burnt oud and cade oil that feel more mechanic than mystical, with cedar and vetiver grounding the chaos into a kind of scorched earth.

The overall character is a vintage teddy bear doused in lighter fluid and left to smolder. It’s sweet, but the sweetness is synthetic and aggressive; the rubber and gasoline make it feel industrial, not nostalgic. The longevity is decent but the sillage is modest, which is actually a mercy — any louder and this would be unbearable indoors. Who should wear it? Someone who wants to smell like a contradiction, a person who loved fairy floss at the fair and now works at a garage. Skip it if you need comfort or clean skin scents. It works best in the cold, when the sharp edges soften slightly, and for daytime wear despite its darkness. Is there a love song for anxiety? This is the perfume version.
