Our take

Tabarom opens with a blast of cinnamon that feels less like a holiday candle and more like a spice merchant’s storeroom, sharp and dusty. A rubbery carnation pushes through, softening the mandarin’s fleeting citrus into something almost medicinal. The heart is where the fragrance finds its footing: tobacco leaf, dry and slightly sweet, tangled with a powdery heliotrope that turns the patchouli’s earthy grit into a comforting, almost cosmetic fuzz. Virginia cedar adds a pencil-shavings dryness, while jasmine darts in and out like a shy guest at a smoky party. The base settles into a piney, resinous musk with sandalwood’s creamy backbone and cypress’s green snap, but the tobacco remains the anchor, now dusty and slightly sour.

The whole thing feels like the interior of an old leather-bound journal left open in a wood-paneled study, pages yellowed, the air thick with settled dust and the ghost of pipe smoke. It is unabashedly heavy, somewhat synthetic in the opening, but the drydown achieves a natural warmth that leans more niche than mainstream. The projection is polite rather than commanding (sillage at 3.39 reflects this), and longevity of nearly four hours is decent but not a marathon.

This is for someone who wants a cozy, introspective scent for crisp autumn afternoons, not a crowd-pleaser. Skip it if you dislike powdery tobacco or prefer bright, airy compositions. Wear it to a library cafe, a long walk in fallen leaves, or a quiet evening with a wool sweater. It knows its season and stays there, content in its own melancholy comfort.
