Ambra Spirituale
Fragrance notes
Character
Massimiliano Torti composed this unisex oriental fragrance for Il Profumiere in 2015. The formula brings amber, leather, absinthe, incense, saffron, black pepper, oud, grapefruit, jasmine, rose and tolu balsam together in a dense, resinous blend. Accords of warm spicy, smoky, animalic, aromatic, fresh spicy, oud and balsamic notes shape a profile that feels heavy, dark and slightly medicinal.
The scent suits a cold night when the air is sharp and the streets are quiet. It carries a serious, almost ecclesiastical mood that works best when the surroundings are dim and the pace is slow. People who enjoy bold resins and animalic warmth will find a lot to like here, especially those who prefer their spicy compositions to lean dry rather than sweet.
Grapefruit and jasmine provide small bright moments, but they never lift the weight of the heavier materials. The overall impression can feel blunt and unrefined, with the pepper and absinthe reading harsh next to the softer balsam. Anyone who expects a smooth, polished amber will find the edges here too rough and the transitions between the notes too abrupt.
