Our take

Microphone opens with a bright, tart spray of bergamot and pear that feels clean and immediate. Geranium adds a green edge before the heart shifts into aldehydes that sparkle like fresh laundry hung in open air. Black currant brings a juicy depth, while neroli contributes a soft, creamy floral touch. The black rose sits quietly underneath, more shadow than petal, giving the center of the fragrance a slightly dark, soapy character that feels polished rather than sweet.

The base moves into leather and tobacco, which arrive with a dry, slightly smoky presence. Patchouli adds earthiness, and musk rounds the edges with a warm, animalic texture. The soapy accord from the heart lingers here, so the drydown feels like clean skin wearing a worn leather jacket. It is a modern mix that balances freshness with something rugged, never leaning fully into either direction.

Composed by Matsuno Hidenori for Kilesa in 2024, this unisex release carries a distinct synthetic sharpness in its aldehydic lift. That brightness can feel a bit harsh to noses sensitive to soapy, metallic florals. The leather and tobacco are present, but they never dominate, which may disappoint anyone hoping for a deeper, heavier leather fragrance.
