Our take

You step into a quiet side chapel just as the evening service ends. The air is still thick with curling grey ribbons of smoke, and the person beside you is wrapped in a layer of scent that feels heavier than the stone walls around you. This is Vanilla Incense by Mayrit, sitting close to the skin but unmistakable in the cool air.

Pink pepper and cardamom crackle against the nose first, a bright and slightly biting welcome that cuts through the heavy atmosphere. Frankincense enters immediately, not waiting for the spices to settle, bringing a dry, resinous sharpness that smells of ancient wood and polished stone. It is a clean, austere opening that prepares the space for what follows.

Lavender soon bridges the gap between the sharp top and the deep base. It offers a soft, herbal breath that tempers the initial bite of the pepper. Then the vanilla bean arrives, but it is not a sugary bakery note. It is dark, pulpy, and rich, merging with benzoin and tonka bean to create a thick, amber-colored warmth. Patchouli anchors the blend with an earthy depth that keeps the sweetness grounded in the floorboards.

The resins continue to smolder in the background, the olibanum repeating its steady, balsamic hum alongside the creamy vanilla. It is a fragrance that feels at home among flickering candles and the fading light of the day, the spicy and sweet elements swirling together in the stillness as the room grows darker
