Dodo Jackfruit Edition

Character
You open a can of Dodo Jackfruit Edition and immediately question your life choices, because this is not your friendly tropical fruit salad. The jackfruit arrives loud and overripe, its sticky sweetness tangled with a sharp turmeric root that feels almost savory, while pink pepper and bergamot cut through like a knife through butter. The heart softens things just enough with a lavender so herbal it nearly cringes, but orange blossom and orris throw in a powdery, almost lipstick-like counterpoint that keeps the animalic edge in check. The base is where it settles into a warm, earthy hum of tonka, sandalwood, and vetiver, a slight patchouli funk lingering like sweat on a jungle hike.
What we have here is a niche oddball that wears like a bohemian market vendor selling spiced jackfruit chips under a lavender bush, totally unself-conscious and slightly sticky. It is sweet but not candy sweet, fresh but with a dirty undergrowth, and it sits close to the skin with a sillage that barely whispers. The longevity of roughly three to four hours before it becomes a personal scent bubble is its biggest letdown, which is frustrating given how much personality it packs. This is for the person who wants to smell edible but challenging, suited for a spring picnic or a summer evening where you do not need to announce your arrival from across the room. Skip it if you want people to smell you before they see you, or if turmeric and lavender together sound like a kitchen accident. But if you are willing to get a little weird and reapply, this dodo is worth the conversation.
