Our take

Coffee hits first in Intoxicated, dark and bitter, roasted, not the instant kind, with cardamom adding a green, sharp edge right alongside it. Calice Becker opened the fragrance on something almost savory, a smart choice that gives the sweetness to come real contrast instead of a soft landing.

Cinnamon and tobacco move in next, warm and a little dusty, with ginger sharpening the spice mix so it never feels one-note. Nutmeg sits quietly underneath, rounding out a heart that leans more toward a spice cabinet than a dessert tray.

Caramel, mocha and marshmallow take over in the base, thick and genuinely sweet, closer to burnt sugar than to fresh vanilla. Balsam fir threads a resinous green line through the sweetness, and patchouli adds enough earthiness that the whole thing avoids feeling like a single flavor turned up too loud.

Staying power is very strong, settling into the caramel and tobacco base and staying there for the long run. Sillage settles into a modest range, most present in the pocket of air right around you. Cold weather brings out the best in this dark, spiced-coffee gourmand, worn on the kind of evenings that call for something dense and a little dangerous.
