The late afternoon sun cuts across a stone terrace where a glass bowl of sliced pineapple and black currant sits beside a pot of bergamot tea. Someone has just bitten into a sharp green apple, the juice still fresh on the air, while a branch of birch leans against the table edge. Moroccan jasmine climbs a nearby trellis, its white petals open in the heat, and a single rose lies in a shallow dish, its petals bruised just enough to release a soft floral weight. Patchouli grows in a clay pot at the corner of the terrace, the damp earth rising around the stone tiles, and oakmoss clings to the shaded side of the wall where the light does not reach. Ambergris and musk settle into the fabric of a linen shirt draped over the chair, and a trace of vanilla lingers where a spoon rested earlier in the day.
The air stays thick with fruit and damp soil, the jasmine weaving through the darker green of the moss and the resinous birch. Rose adds a quiet color to the middle of the space, never loud, while the apple and pineapple keep the edges bright against the heavier earth. Patchouli anchors the scene without turning it dark, letting the vanilla smooth the rough texture of the moss and the ambergris. The whole terrace smells of fruit, wood, and white flowers, the air balanced between sweet and earthy, citrus and rose.
