Rosemary, thyme, and caraway sit alongside black pepper, nutmeg, and allspice, creating a sharp, herbal heat. Cumin and birch tar push the blend toward a dark, tarry edge, while castoreum and ambergris add a heavy, animalic weight. Neroli and ylang-ylang provide brief bright spots, though they are quickly absorbed by the surrounding resins. Frankincense, myrrh, labdanum, and styrax form a thick, resinous core that feels dense and slightly oily. Jasmine and geranium offer floral touches that never soften the overall intensity.
The drydown is where the fragrance expands into its full character. Oud, Atlas cedar, Mysore sandalwood, guaiac wood, and Haitian vetiver create a massive wooden structure. Orris and patchouli smooth some of the rougher edges, but the birch tar and castoreum remain prominent, keeping the texture rough and primal. The amber and musk accords wrap around the woods, giving the scent a warm, slightly dirty glow. It feels appropriate for a cold evening walk or a quiet room lit by a single lamp, where the air is still and the scent can sit undisturbed on the skin.
Composed by Weston Adam, this is a challenging wear that demands tolerance for heavy animalic notes and strong resins. The cumin and castoreum combination can read as aggressively unwashed to those who prefer clean, modern compositions. It is not a safe choice for shared office spaces or close quarters, as the tar and sweat-like facets are unapologetic. The blend lacks a balancing sweetness or fresh lift, making it feel one-dimensional in its darkness.
