Élysée Liminaire opens with a harsh, abrasive edge that some will find difficult to accept. The burnt match and gunpowder notes arrive first, accompanied by a sharp rubber facet and a cold metallic sting. This introduction is unpolished and aggressively synthetic, creating a barrier that requires patience from the wearer before the composition begins to settle.
Once the initial intensity recedes, the heart reveals a watery, aromatic character. The vodka and pomelo provide a crisp, alcoholic freshness that cools the smoke. Boronia and jasmine add a delicate floral layer, while shiso and hexenyl green push the scent toward a vivid, leafy greenness. Cardamom spices the mix subtly, and white lotus keeps the texture light. It feels bright and exposed, suited to a sunlit room where the sharp top notes can dissipate into the open air without overwhelming anyone nearby.
The base moves into a deep, resinous woodiness. Sandalwood and oud provide a sturdy foundation, while propolis adds a sticky, animalic richness. Musk and paradisone smooth the transition, leaving a clean, woody finish. The smoky accord persists throughout, tying the mineral opening to the resinous drydown.
