Jorge di Profondo
Fragrance notes
Character
Jorge di Profondo opens with a sharp, saline slap of sea notes and aquozone, cut through by a green shimmer of bergamot and mandarin that feels less like citrus juice and more like the bitter rind scraped across a dock railing. The heart settles into a brisk herbal accord where rosemary and lavender play against a sappy cypress and the faint, resinous bite of mastic, giving the whole thing a coastal scrubland feel rather than a pure beach vacation. On drydown, it turns to damp mineral tones and a clean musk, with amber and patchouli lurking far beneath, barely warmed by the skin. The overall impression is that of a morning swim in a tidal pool just as the fog lifts, cool and steely blue, but the projection and longevity betray the fantasy entirely at a paltry 2.22 and 2.57 respectively, this thing evaporates like sea foam on a hot rock. It is thoroughly synthetic in the best affordable way, a mainstream designer clone that works perfectly for a quick spring errand or a humid summer afternoon where you want to smell fresh without announcing your arrival from across the room. It suits someone who re-applies and doesn't demand performance, but skip it if you want a deep, enveloping aquatic or any presence past lunch. After all, is there anything more frustrating than a scent that promises a long dive but only gives you a splash?
