Our take

Lady Vengeance promises a knife-edge, but what plays out on skin is softer than the name suggests. Two roses, Bulgarian and Moroccan, sit at the center of the composition, backed by patchouli and a wash of iso e super that flattens their edges into something powdery and soft, closer to petals pressed between the pages of a book than flowers cut that morning. Staying power is fair, present without demanding attention, quietly receding rather than announcing a sudden exit. It keeps to a warm perimeter, reaching only the person standing beside you.

Lavender and bergamot open things on a sharp, aromatic note before the roses take over, and white musk with vanilla close the base on something warm and dry. The mood leans more autumnal than romantic, helped along by the patchouli's earthiness, and it suits the colder half of the year, when its warm spicy character sits well against cool air, less at home in summer heat. Composed by Francis Kurkdjian, it carries the restraint of a chypre built for florals that don't need to shout, best worn where a quiet, close presence is the point.
