Our take

Neroli Nostrum opens with a bright, biting snap of petitgrain and ginger, the bergamot adding a sour shimmer that feels almost effervescent. This is Daniel Josier’s attempt at a Mediterranean heat-haze in a bottle, but the heart quickly reveals his true ambition: tuberose and neroli, thick and sweet as overripe fig, dragged down by a base of cedar, sandalwood, and a whisper of oud that never fully commits. The effect is like a white linen shirt worn to a sticky summer wedding—it looks crisp on the hanger, but within an hour the fabric clings to your skin with a damp, floral heaviness. The sillage, unfortunately, sits at a whispery 2.22, and longevity barely clocks past three hours, so you’ll be reapplying before the honeymoon is over. For those who want a gentle, greenish-white floral with a touch of animalic warmth, this offers an elegant if fleeting reprieve. It suits the spring gardener, the brunch-goer who prefers their fragrance to hover close. But if you need a scent that punches through a humid evening or lasts from office to dinner, skip it. Neroli Nostrum is a lovely daydream, but one that evaporates before you can write it down.
